#202 Antique Seth Thomas Off-Center Pillar & Scroll Wood Movement Clock 1818-22

Dimensions: 28in x 17.25in x 4.25in. Clock is unrestored and as found. Seth Thomas, Plymouth, Conn. 30 hour, time and strike weight driven OFF-CENTER pendulum pillar and scroll shelf clock. This clock has a 30-hour strap plate four arbor wood movement. The backplate of the movement is actually part of the backboard. The gears are strong with no chips or missing teeth. The movement makes use of compound pully system. All pullies are original. The mahogany and mahogany veneered case is in very nice condition in an old, possibly original finish. The original painted dial is clean with bright decorations and numerals. There is a painted scene in the center depicting a pond at sunset on a warm summer day. I can only think that this may be the original owners view of his beloved land. The door lock is original and working and comes with? There are nicely done repairs to the feet and scrolls. The inside of the door frame retains the original light red wash paint. The original clean label is in very good condition with little wear. The tablet is replaced, but is of proper style. Early style lead hands, repainted black. There is damage to the hour shaft where the hour hand mounts – this allows the hour hand to slip. This clock is in very clean condition. I can only think that this clock was seldom used and stored most of it’s life. The finials are modern, but proper, replacements. Clock is unrestored, as found, and even a bit dusty.
