Manufactured by Seth Thomas of Thomaston, Connecticut in March of 1893, this is a very nice condition and fully operating example of their classic Black Mantel Clock series, produced in the late 1800’s with their newly adopted cabinet finish process using new materials called Marbeline and Adamantine (soon to both be collectively known as Adamantine), and later destined to become a focal trait sought by many collectors. Vintage SETH THOMAS 14.5 Beehive Shelf Clock 48 0 Movement RUNS / NO PENDULUM. This clock measures 14.5″ tall by 9″ across at the base. The dial is marked Seth Thomas as is the movement inside. Speaking of the movement, it has the code 48 0 (or 48 O) towards the bottom. I wound this up a few turns and it started ticking right away very fast.
