Measuring approximately 11″ H x 6.5″ W x 3.5 D, this nautical timepiece has wonderful aged patina and authentic surface wear that adds to its maritime character. Marine-style clocks such as this were designed around highly legible dials and robust mechanical construction. What makes this example particularly desirable is the combination of the large brass porthole-style case and separate external bell, a configuration considerably more visually striking than ordinary Seth Thomas mantel and wall clocks.

The brass/metal casing shows an authentic patina consistent with age and maritime use. The dial shows some light wear, adding to the piece’s character. Clock is in a really great shape. I don’t know a whole lot about the mechanisms of clocks. The pendulum seems to swing, but I don’t see the hands necessarily moving. Just looking at the mechanism it doesn’t seem to be damaged in any kind of way.

This clock holds historical significance as it was used by the US Navy during World War II, making it a valuable artifact from that time period.

The clock is the Mayflower type and I was told it was made in the 1920’s or 30’s. Either way it keeps very good time, strike’s, 8 day wind and original unpolished chrome. The only thing I cannot do is shut off the strike. See all the pictures and this clock needs a home!
