The Vintage Seth Thomas US Maritime Commission Clock in a Bakelite case is an antique original timepiece from the World War II era. This deck clock, made by Seth Thomas in the United States, features a Bakelite and brass construction, reflecting its maritime heritage. The clock also comes with a wind-up key, adding to its vintage charm and functionality. A perfect addition for collectors of maritime antiques or those interested in military history, this clock is a unique piece of historical significance. 1940s WWII Maritime Commission wind-up clock. Brass face with glass-front cover. Black Bakelite case was painted by a previous owner with a bronze finish; now has a distressed vintage look. Faceplate is marked U. Maritime Commission” & “Made by Seth Thomas in U. The bezel opens on the right with a knurled thumbscrew; hinged on the left and opens fully 180 degrees. A cork washer is contained in the bezel to maintain the air-tight integrity. Brass dial has bold black Arabic numerals. The Fast/Slow micrometer adjustment is below the 12. It is housed in its classic war-time Bakelite case marked on the back with classic GE logo. Brass winding key included (egraved with a “5”). Clock measures 7.75″ in Diameter, 2.75″ in Depth. I’ve owned the clock for 25+ years and have used it as a working clock. When wound fully, it keeps good time over several days before it starts to slow down.
