MEDBURY model made by Seth Thomas. With a great Art Deco design. 9″ tall, 20″ wide, and 7 deep. It is an 8 day clock. Condition: The glass is in great shape with no cracks or chips. The wood cabinet has some light signs of age… Still looks great as seen in pictures. The face looks fantastic and has that ART DECO look about it. Circa 1930’s Seth Thomas Clock Co, Thomaston CT, 8 day Westminster Sonora Chime Clock. The case has a nice refinish to the mahogany veneer and features inlaid marquetry in the front panel. There are two movements. The inner one is an 8 day time and hour strike movement which activates the second Westminster Chime movement to ring out that musical chime on the 15 minute marks. The first quarter hour chimes out four notes. The length of the song increases every 15 minutes. At the hour, it chimes the full song followed by the hammer counting out the hours on one of the rods. Measures approximately 14-3/4″ tall and 10″ wide at base. Made by Seth Thomas. Clock has been running for a few days at listing time. Appears to be within a couple minute or so per day. Westminster chime sounds a little slow but rings every 15 mins as designed. Chime does need to be adjusted, as it chimes at 5-10 minutes after it is supposed to. Hours chime at top of hour usually. Will miss a chime sequence occasionally. Clock finish shows age but no visible damage or repairs noted. It’s old, and needs to be professionally serviced. Many service markings on the clock, so I’m thinking it was well taken […]
