This is a Seth Thomas Corsair clock and barometer. From a resent local estate. Barometer appears to be in good working order. Both measure 5 1/4 across. Double Spring, Runs 7-5/8 Bezel. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself! Nice looking wall clock here. Made by the Seth Thomas Company in the USA. This is not the smaller 4 case model. This is the larger 7-5/8 case model. Would guess from design that the clock was made prior to WWII. The clock is most likely a 16 day mechanical brass movement with the two spring winds. No strike or chime here with this clock. Nice black colored composite case here. Unlike civil clock bells, the strikes of the bell do not accord to the number of the hour. Instead, there are eight bells, one for each half-hour of a four-hour watch. Bells would be struck every half-hour, and in a pattern of pairs for easier counting, with any odd bells at the end of the sequence. It is made of several different kinds of wood. It runs well, keeps time and strikes as designed.
