Seth Thomas Ogee Shelf Clock w Original Reverse Painting on Glass 1800s. Reverse glass painting of a castle scene on the bottom window. Ogee case, made in Plymouth Hollow, glasses puttied in. Dial is metal, and two rings drawn around time track with dots for minute marks. Early features of dial are tapered numerals 3, 4, and 8, with small winding holes (8.2 mm). Movement type 1.243 (the earliest type). Measures: Height 25-7/8″, width 15-5/8″, depth 4-3/8. The case has nicks, chips, scratches in the veneer and wood back. Antique Seth Thomas Plymouth 8 Day Mantel Shelf Clock Working. This is a really nice scarce antique Seth Thomas Plymouth 8-Day mantel clock dating from the 1940’s. It strikes with a two- tone chime once at the quarter hour, twice at the half hour, three times at the 3/4 hour and counts the hours with a single chime at the top of the hour. It has a mahogany case with lighter wood inlay. It has a metal face with raised numerals. The clock is in very good original condition and includes the original key. See my other listings. This clock comes with an alarm mechanism that I tend to see less and less of these days in clock collecting. Often these mechanisms will be seen in Ogee clocks and 8 day spring driven mantle clocks. Columns have been re-gessoed and painted in a faux marble look with gold compliments. Some veneer flaking or loose spots with age. Overall in excellent shape. The clock measures 16″ x 10 1/2″ x 5.
