Offered is a late 19th c. The clock was originally nickle-plated, but typical of one of these century-old clocks, the nickle had worn off considerably and with just a quick cleaning on a buffing wheel, the underlying solid brass case and bell polished up to a beautiful luster. Now, for those who bemoan the removing of “patina”, let me remind you that brass on ships was either kept polished or painted and never allowed to look “grungy”! This is an antique signed Seth Thomas 4 bell sonora clock. It has a painted case that is simulated Rosewood grain painted. The case measures 14.5 inches in height, 12 inches in length, 7.5 inches in depth. The face probably needs a cleaning, it is brass so it will clean up. The right keyhole will wind perfectly and so it will tell time. However the left keyhole has the spring broken so it will need a repair to the spring, so it currently will not chime with the bells.
