Antique Seth Thomas Regulator Wall Clock. Seth Thomas No 2? Custom Model w/ Square Case Around Face. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself! This is a very sought after maker’s clock. The wood case has a lot of its’ original elegance. The condition the case is in pretty good shape. What is unique is that this clock has a square instead of round case around the face, like all Seth Thomas No. 2s that we have seen. Then a swan neck wood topper with brass finials. Either a custom piece made by Seth Thomas or a case that someone has reconfigured over the years. Seth Thomas was known for making custom clocks for clients over the years, but no way to say for certain what this actually is. The wall clock appears to be a No. 2 at the bottom of the case, but then unique from there. Look forward to your thoughts and assistance in figuring out what we are actually looking at here. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don’t have the overhead that the higher end houses and clock shops experience. The wood case is all there. No loose pieces, case still all there. The locking latches for the door are still on the side of the case. Hinges for the door are in working order. The brass leveler plate is in place at the bottom of the case. The paper Seth Thomas label is still on the inside bottom of the case as well. Appears there was a brass eagle figurine on the case at one time. Can still see the tack holes and the image of the bird. A paper label dealing with the Office of Independent Counsel is also tacked inside the case. Nice intact front glass pieces on this case. As noted before, the glass on the front of this clock case is just beautiful and intact. All the glass that is in place is good, with with no blistering or cracks. Cannot say if original, but looks appropriate. We just wiped it down, no alcohol. The clock face is made of metal. There is a Seth Thomas mark on the clock face. The clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The minute hand does not quite fit by itself, so someone has used a few washers to tighten up. Have not set the clock up to see if running or not. Beautiful brass movement, some minor dings and moderate loss to the brass lacquered case. The brass cable to hang the weight is in place and not worn. Only pic of the movement is from the bottom. This is a time clock only. Great wood pendulum rod and then a heavy brass bob on this clock that look appropriate to the clock. The Seth Thomas Wall Clock stands 38-5/8″ tall, by 10.25″ across, by 5-1/16 wide. The clock face is 6-7/8 across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art.
