Seth Thomas Ogee Shelf Clock w Original Reverse Painting on Glass 1800s
Seth Thomas Ogee Shelf Clock w Original Reverse Painting on Glass, 1800’s Reverse glass painting of Roman columns scene on the bottom window. Ogee case, made in possibly Plymouth Hollow, tablet glass puttied in, missing top tablet glass. Dial is metal, and two rings drawn around time track with dots for minute marks. The case has some nicks, chips, scratches in the veneer and wood back. The door opens with no problems, the putty around the windows is old. The painting on the glass has some paint missing but still very clear. The face has a very nice patina, a few scratches, and spots of color missing. It does keep time, all the parts move and it chimes on the hour. The movement was cleaned, oiled and adjusted. New ropes were added to the clock. There is a generic key to wind. There are two leaded weights hanging on the side. There is a label on the inside the reads Sperry and Shaw Agents for Crane Patent, 115 Maiden Lane New York. Many times indicating that they were the manufacturers when in reality they did not make clocks. Measures: Height 25-7/8″, width 15-5/8″, depth 4-3/8. Putting your clock back in beat is very easy, there are many good videos on YouTube to view. Also the hammers of the chime can get bent and need adjustment.
