Antique Seth Thomas & Sons Orio Figural Clock 1870s Bronze Sculpture Works

This rare Seth Thomas & Sons “Orio” figural mantel clock dates to the late 1870s-1880s and features a beautifully sculpted classical seated figure signed D. The clock retains its original finish, showing only expected age-related wear, and houses the correct Thomaston, CT Seth Thomas & Sons movement, which is in working condition. The ornate case includes deep Victorian engraving, a round Roman-numeral dial marked Seth Thomas Sons & Co. , and a richly detailed bronze-tone sculpture. The figure is securely attached overall, with only slight movement at one support point when touched – typical for clocks of this age. This is a premium New York-division Seth Thomas clock, produced during the company’s highest-quality era. These Orio-designed figural clocks are highly collectible and increasingly hard to find with original finish and a functioning movement. A striking display piece and a fine example of 19th-century American horology paired with European sculptural artistry. Clock is in working condition with its original Seth Thomas & Sons movement. The finish appears original and shows expected age-related wear, including some rubbed areas. The figural sculpture is secure overall, though has slight movement when touched due to loose secure points. Due to the age of the clock, no guarantee is made regarding long-term timekeeping accuracy. No repainting or modern restoration. Thank you for supporting our shop!
