Antique Seth Thomas Gingerbread 8 Day Clock #8981 Metals Series Working

Antique Seth Thomas Gingerbread 8 Day Clock From Metals Series with Key. This clock is a bit of a Frankenstein when it comes to the frame. There is a Seth Thomas model #8981 that has a different metal applique design but is almost identical in every other apect. This one’s woodwork has been repaired/replaced. The lower side pieces look to be a different tone of wood than the movement/pendulum housing. The top section with the metal applique is also a different tone and it has been repaired as well. Even with all of the Frankenstein examples, the clock still displays nicely. Also, it still works great and keeps accurate time. The pendulum is fairly quiet as it ticks and the chimes aren’t overwhelming loud. Although the clock keeps time it will need oiled and probably serviced.
