1879 SETH THOMAS WEIGHT DRIVEN NO. 2 REGULATOR WALL CLOCK, runs excl, walnut
Rare early Seth Thomas regulator with seconds hand. Running and keeping excellent time. The Seth number 2 was an accurate time keeper and the railroad used them in their system showing the correct time to the many travelers passing through the train stations. The large square weight is hidden behind a drop down [sliding up and down] thin board. Runs 8 days on a wind. The square weight is not original and has the weight of 7 lbs. Plus the date of manufacture [1967] stamped in it. This chart if from a Seth Thomas regulator identification guide. Front pendulum/rear weight used until 1879. Seconds bit first used in 1879.
