Vtg/Antique circa 1903 USA Made Seth Thomas 8 day Mantle Clock with a 48-R Movement w key. I know nothing about clocks, however after very slightly winding it up, it started to move and make noise (i suppose it was running correctly), i made a short YouTube video of this and can be seen here.. Since, i dont know anything about these, this was the extent of my test and i plan on leaving it well enough alone. This is a very nice clock and looks to be in very good vintage condition. Great one for your clock collection. After research online, i found out It is an 8 day clock, and when properly set up it has the ST brass movement that strikes on the half hour and every hour counting out each hour. Nice original Antique porcelain dial with the makers mark of Seth Thomas and Made in USA both on it. It features a wooden case with the original rich brown mahogany stain finish, The case measures approx 10 3/4 inches in height, 8 1/2 inches in width and approximately 6 inches in depth. It would fit in just about anywhere and would look amazing just as a display piece alone. Im told that when properly serviced, This original Seth Thomas 48R 8-day keeps great time and strikes the hour and half-hour on a coiled cathedral bell, or gong. It has a 5-inch convex white porcelain dial and a French swing sash, however missing the convex beveled glass and pendulum. Nice Looking Clock all around!!
