Here is a very original Seth Thomas, Plymouth Hollow 30 hour wood clock, invented by Eli Terry. This one has the desirable carved eagle splat and curly maple half columns. A great, intact label and possibly the first finish. The movement runs freely without the verge, but I have not run it. It needs a pair of weights which are easily found. I have for sale an absolutely beautiful antique Seth Thomas mantle clock. The piece features a faux marble & column design on each side. It something like a celluloid material. The feet are painted gilt wood, as are the top and bottom of the columns. There’s a hairline on the right side on the bottom-right corner in the decorated celluloid. Beautiful original and early Seth Thomas “pillar and scroll” wood works clock in nice condition. Circa 1830, an Eli Terry design, this was Seth Thomas first clock. Movement is clean, the strike side has a gear which has been repaired and needs attention. (see photo) The suspension spring has worn out and needs replaced. Original top and bottom glass with bubbles in the original front glass. Part of the original label is on the inside. The dial is in beautiful aged condition with no damage just age. The dial is wood. Made by Seth Thomas out of Plymouth Hollow Conn. USA in the early to mid 1800’s. Large 25″ tall, 15 1/4″ wide, and 4 1/8 deep. Looks to be walnut but please see pictures to be sure. Great shape with little signs of age on the front or sides of cabinet. The reverse painted flower scene gives it a great appearance. The face has a great antique look as well. Absolutely beautiful antique Seth Thomas mantle clock. It has faux marble columns and comes with the pendalum and key. The clock chimes once every hour with a separate one-chime on the half-hour. One of the back columns is broken and is loose. I tried to capture that in the photo, but it is hard to tell from the photo. I would recommend getting it professionally cleaned. It works well as is.
