Stencil Stamped Imperial on the back and A 1898 on the bottom. 8 day time and strike on hour only with appropriate number of cathedral gong sounds. 2 metal columns on the front and warrior ornaments on the sides. Nice wood cut diamond inlay surrounded by gold tone scrolling. Veneer condition is the best I have seen in a long time. Replacement Double Ended key works with F/S arbor and Clock Winding arbors. There is a tiny piece of veneer missing at the top right which is barely noticeable (see last photo); otherwise, I see no other defects in the wood case which looks to be maple. It has a very nice reverse painted tablet that does have a few scratches in the paint on the inside of the door that really are not seen from the front with the door closed.
