Antique 1870s – 1880s E. WELCH Mahogany Regulator Long Drop Wall Clock – UNUSUAL. Pendulum – Present – Era correct. Dial – Paper – Sweigert Replacement. Movement – Marked E. Welch – Time only. Operating condition – Tested – This clock ran but did so inconsistently, would run for approx 10 mins and then stop. My guess is the movement will need a cleaning. The clock has an eight day movement and strikes on the hour and half-hour with a gong strike. Original gilt metal pendulum with face surrounded by sunburst. The case has beveled glass on all four sides mounted in a brass case with its original “rich gold” polished finish. The clock’s works are marked “Made by Seth Thomas, USA, 48S”. Up for sale is this very unusual Seth Thomas Parlor or Kitchen Clock. Im not sure if this was part of the City Series or what the model is called. It has the beautiful lyre shaped Movement and impressive brass and iron Coil Gong. I literally tested this clock for 15 minutes prior to listing, just long enough to hear it Strike, and it has a very deep resonance. Measures about 15 3/4 x 11.
