Working Antique SETH THOMAS SCHOOL HOUSE Short Drop 8-day time & strike Walnut. Seth Thomas Short Drop School House Wall Clock. I’m pretty sure the case wood is walnut. The case is 21-3/4″ tall x 15″ wide with a 9 painted zinc Arabic numeral dial. The dial is marked Seth Thomas and also U. There is an eight-day, spring-powered movement that strikes the hours on a wire gong. The movement is marked with the ST Logo and made in U. America and also 14 H. The movement has stops to prevent overwinding. The clock is currently running and striking as it should. Comes with key and pendulum bob. Please see […]

This clock is in very good condition for its age. Please inspect the HD pictures included. The clock keeps good time. When fully wound, it runs for the full eight days. It chimes on the half hour and hour (if you don’t want the clock to chime, only wind the right side hole/arbor, near 4 o’clock hour). However, the chimes are very muffled and weak sounding (see attached video). I tried making some adjustments to the chime arm, but nothing seemed to produce the proper sound. So if you’re looking for a clock that makes a loud chime, you’ll either need to know how to make adjustments to the chime […]

This is one of Seth Thomas’ small Adamantine mantel clocks with an 8 day time and strike movement. The case is very nice and in good condition with only slight losses and a glossy finish. The pendulum bob is probably original, at the very least it’s a correct period replacement. The clock chimed properly when the hands were cycled. It’s an all around nice little clock and it’s priced to sell so don’t miss it!

Manufactured by Seth Thomas of Thomaston, Connecticut in March of 1893, this is a very nice condition and fully operating example of their classic Black Mantel Clock series, produced in the late 1800’s with their newly adopted cabinet finish process using new materials called Marbeline and Adamantine (soon to both be collectively known as Adamantine), and later destined to become a focal trait sought by many collectors. Selected by it’s already being reference to a particularly hard type of stone and it’s use as a term defining great strength and durability, the name’Adamantine’ would now also refer to the process of essentially “heat-shrink-wrapping” the outer, finish surfaces of a wood […]
