It’s been keeping pretty good time for a few hours but the chimes are very reluctant to engage without some help; it sounds like they will strike on the quarter hour but I can’t fully guarantee that. I once got it where it hit all four chimes simultaneously and it really sounded great. But obviously it needs work to get back to correct operation. The dial has various scratches as pictured, the wood case is very clean with a few dings, light scratches, and such, and a couple dark spots to one side (see closeup picture). Vintage 1940’s Seth Thomas 4500 8 Day Mechanical Tambour Wooden Mantle Clock. This item is in good condition with some wear to the clock case. This does wind easily and the movements start working. It does seem to keep time but might need some adjustments to it. This uses a #5 key to wind it but does not come with the key. This item measures approximately 18 inch by 4 1/2 inch a height of 8 inch and weighs 4 pounds 12 ounces. I package every single item I sell with the utmost care and attention.

This is a very rare complete example of a Seth Thomas 1899 carriage clock. This model is the exclusive with an alarm and a second hand. Original crystals all around unbroken unscratched for the most part the design on the Brass on the face of this is still very legible. The back is original, and opens and closes and latches handle is original and is on bent. The clock works as well as chime strike and calendar. The video shows the clock working; however, as with many vintage clocks, it may work intermittently.
