Offered here is an antique Seth Thomas beautiful mahogany pillar shelf clock to restore. The case is in very good antique condition. The hand painted dial is worn. The interior is in need of restorations. There are weights included if you need them, but there is no pendulum or key included. The clock measures 25″ tall, 15″ wide and 4 1/2 deep. Beautiful antique Pillar & Scroll made by Seth Thomas Clock Company of Connecticut about 1825. Wonderful original painted glass. The veneer is tight to the case and nearly perfect for a 194 year old American antique. The old hands are delicate and the original hand painted wood dial is well preserved. The massive wood movement looks original to the case. The clock has a pendulum bob, key, two weights and brass finials. The crest and the bottom fretwork look original. This magnificent Pillar and Scroll shelf clock came from an old New England estate, from a collector skilled in antique clock restoration. It has been running for the past month, keeping good time and striking the hour on a large original cast bell. The case is surfaced with figured mahogany veneer and features book matched moldings on the door flat surfaces. The door itself includes its original locking mechanism and the original keyhole escutcheon plate. The color of the case is striking as it has an old finish including some areas with over-varnish.
