Made by Seth Thomas out of Plymouth Conn. USA in the late 1800’s. 25″ tall, 14 7/8″ wide, and 4 1/2 deep. Looks to be walnut but please see pictures to be sure. Front glass panes are in good shape with no cracks. The top glass has that old wavy appearance to it. Good antique patina throughout. The outside cabinet has small scratches etc. The face has patina. This clock is huge, I bought it thinking it was a normal size when in fact its nearly as tall as two normal bottles of wine! The casting is sublime, its cold painted and bronzed, the ladies expression is very peaceful and serene, the hair is what I love the most, how it becomes part of the clock and can be seen from all angles. The dial is hand painted and porcelain, this would have been a very expensive piece to had made in its day. Antique Seth Thomas Mantel Clock “Rebecca at the Well” c1870 Painted Spelter. Beautiful clock with bronze looking patina but its painted that way. One of the palm tree fronds broke off in the back and the porcelain dial is chipped around the key holes which is normal especially at the age of this clock.
