Wonderful antique Seth Thomas wall clock, in simple yet elegant solid oak case. Large size, measures 19 x 23″ overall, with a 12″ diameter face. Here is a large cleaned and serviced Seth Thomas movement stamp with a patent date of Dec 28, 1875. There is also a stamp that reads either FOA or FQA. It is mounted on a board with a pendulum and chime rod. It has a seconds bit, chimes on the hour, runs well and keeps good time. A fun conversation piece. Like a skeleton clock! The movement plates measure about 4″ W at the top and 5″ W at the bottom and 7 1/2 high. The width including the gears is 7 1/2. This is a large Ashcroft Manufacturing Co. It uses a double wind Seth Thomas marine lever movement and runs well. The case is nickel silvered and has held up pretty well over the years. Its keeping time pretty well. The case uses a side key that probably isnt original, but it works ok. The winding key is not original. I also notice a slight dent in the bezel right around the 2, but its not noticeable in the pictures and is hard to detect otherwise. This is a rare clock and larger than most. I believe the piece is Seth Thomas – the hands are Asian style and spell out ST. I didnt see a mark on the movement. Beautiful piece, but needs work. The movement isnt working and will need repaired. The case is engraved, the dial is porcelain l and it has an open escapement. The movement is not marked where I can see it. The door is missing and there are 2 back feet missing.
