The perfect gift for your Sailor! This plaque is 17 inches in diameter. It is hand made and definitely one of a kind. Unlike civil clock bells, the strikes of the bell do not accord to the number of the hour. Instead, there are eight bells, one for each half-hour of a four-hour watch. Bells would be struck every half-hour, and in a pattern of pairs for easier counting, with any odd bells at the end of the sequence. It is made of several different kinds of wood. It runs well, keeps time and strikes as designed.

Beautiful Seth Thomas outside escapement pillar and scroll clock. The backboard, dial, bell, hands, pendulum, pulleys, movement and label are original and period. As you can see, the movement is attached to the dial and makes use of compound pulleys. The 30-hour wooden works movement is untested but complete. Nice addition to any collection.
