I don’t know any thing about clocks but I have some questions this clock face does not show the military hours like some of the others? The person how look at this said it chimes on a. 8 hour work time? Used is size 3 key which I do not have.

This is a classic maritime-style brass and wood timepiece made in Thomaston, Connecticut by the Seth Thomas Division of General Time Corporation. Wood base with engraved plaque (“With Sincere Appreciation – Navy League of the United States”). Working German movement by Hermle. (keeps accurate time and strikes accurately on the hour and half hour). Clean dial with both 12- and 24-hour markings. Original model label intact on back plate. Great condition – minor signs of age but no damage.

Really Cool Clock — Here’s what we know. It works – see below. The Brass base has been stamped as follows. Hitt 1981 suggesting it might be a 20 year employment or retirement award. The brass plate stamp likely places the date of manufacture to the early 1980’s. The bells work, but it looks like the hour hand needs to be adjusted two hours forward to align with the correct bell sequence. Service and ownership history unknown. Repair and service needed if clock is to be used for timekeeping. Suspected broken mainspring as it slips when wound and clock will not run. Bezel has waves and bends in it. Chromed finish is pitted, rusted, chipped. Ask for more photos if needed.

Cosmetically the set is very good with no noticeable issues. There is a dedication plate that appears to be glued to the cradle. The blame is dated 1966 and refers to a Baltimore harbor master. Mechanically, the clock was wound and ticked. When the hands were cycled it chimed. It wasn’t tested for accuracy or run duration. It a nice clock set in great shape nand it’s priced to sell so don’t miss it.

Offered here is a set of vintage Seth Thomas “Helmsman” series 8-day clock and matching barometer, both in excellent condition. The clock has been serviced by a clock technician and both have been polished, so they look and work great. The clock number is #1008 with movement number EH537 and the barometer is #1058. They are both 9 in diameter, spoke to spoke. A key for winding the clock is, or course included.
