I bought it at an estate sale and I don’t know much about clocks but I’ll tell you what I do know. It does wind when I turn it (in other words, the key is the right size). When I push the pendulum, it works just a little and then slows down and stops. One time it actually ran for 10 minutes but then stopped. The pendulum looks great. On the clockwork lower right is the number “4½” which I’ve read is the pendulum length. On the clockwork is also “Made in USAmerica” and the Seth Thomas Logo. As you can see it wants to run. See tape measure for dimensions. Will need servicing and looks like the crutch was repaired. Case has wear and a few small pieces of veneer missing but not bad at all for its age and is very solid. Label is all but completely gone but I think the style of label puts it around early 1850’s. This is an exquisite mantle clock, made by Seth Thomas in the Adamintine celluloid finish. The pattern is faux marble, varigated green, black and beige. This particular clock is considered rare and is highly desirable; please notice the fluted corinthian columns, layered in the same adamintine finish. Here is a very original Seth Thomas, Plymouth Hollow 30 hour wood clock, invented by Eli Terry. This one has the desirable carved eagle splat and curly maple half columns. A great, intact label and possibly the first finish. The movement runs freely without the verge, but I have not run it. It needs a pair of weights which are easily found. The bob and crank are included. The lower glass has been professionally painted; I believe this is Mt Vernon. This is a large clock at 35″ high by 17 1/4″ wide. I have for sale an absolutely beautiful antique Seth Thomas mantle clock. The piece features a faux marble & column design on each side. It something like a celluloid material. The feet are painted gilt wood, as are the top and bottom of the columns. There’s a hairline on the right side on the bottom-right corner in the decorated celluloid. Antique Seth Thomas 4 column Adamantine Mantle Clock. Chimes are beautiful sounding. The clock now keeps time correctly and the number of chimes on the hour corresponds with the hour’s time. The back door has 3 dates written with the initials of the clock is workman. The dates I can read are 1917 and 1926. This interesting Victorian mantel clock was made in 1905 by Seth Thomas. Its been in our hallway for over 50 years; it worked when we first inherited it, but stopped working many years ago. Most likely, it needs to be cleaned and adjusted. Includes key (not pictured) and pendulum. I believe it is an eight-day time and strike, counting the hours and the half-hour.
