For sale is a Seth Thomas “Adamantine” clock with black and green marbleized finish (Adamantine is Seth Thomas’ patented celluloid finish that was made in many colors to imitate wood and marble). It strikes the hours on two brass bells, and strikes the half hour on the higher pitched bell. The clock movement has been cleaned, oiled and 2 new mainsprings were installed. The clock case is in “as-found” excellent condition. The movement is marked 89T and is called a “ding-dong” because it sounds like a door bell. All reasonable offers accepted.

This is one of Seth Thomas’s Sonora chime clocks with the adamantine case, and 8 day movement. Cosmetically it’s very good with a some blackened corner dings and maybe a scuff or two, but nothing to point out specifically. Mechanically the clock is mostly untested. Both movements were wound and it was allowed to run while it was being listed. It chimes when the hands were cycled. This is a rare clock and not a run of the mill Sonora. It’s priced to sell so don’t miss it!

Another item from Country Artifacts, Great Northern Liquidation, Springfield, Vermont. 124 chime movement appears to have 5 notes, likely the Westminster tune, but this is not verified. The movement tick tocks and appears to want to run. It is assumed that it will need servicing and adjustment to work properly. We have not tried to maintain it in any way. The Sonora chime line of Seth Thomas clocks are some of the most complex and beautiful sounding clocks the company ever produced. The time keeping mechanism has a few lifter arms that tell the chiming mechanism when to activate the quarter chimes and the hour strike. When working properly, they sound incredible. This is a beautifully restored Seth Thomas Westminster chiming clock Chime #74 from 1921. The beautiful mahogany tambour style cabinet has been fully restored and presents as it did over 100 years ago. The brass bezel has been hand polished to a shiny luster and has thick beveled glass. The original silvered dial is in good overall condition and shows some blemishes but is in better shape than most of these original silvered dials.
