Here is a beautiful Adamantine clock made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. Original signed Seth Thomas movement. Made in 1900 as marked on the bottom of the clock. The “Adamantine” finish, which is a patented laminate finish first used in the late 1800’s, is in very good shape. See photos and judge for yourself. The dial and solid brass bezel assembly appear to be original. The brass bezel and the dial have some tarnish from age. This is a Seth Thomas Belmont No. It was made in 1910 and is a Time and Strike 8 day clock. Its 89AL movement is a workhorse and used in a lot of ST products so there are plenty of parts if service is needed. This particular movement is very clean and looks to have been well maintained. It kept excellent time over the 3 week testing period with a nice beat rate and no time variations. A clock of this age will normally have a few issues. Beautiful condition as shown in pictures. Key included, fully working, missing back cover. Has been professionally oiled/serviced and is keeping time and running like new. We let these clocks run for about a week and watch that the hour gongs and half-hour bells are accurate and any fast/slow adjustments made so you know this clock has been put through its paces and is running like a champ. So many of these adamantine mantel clocks have chips all over, as the adamantine finish is a veneer that may chip off when note handled carefully. It has very small, TINY adamantine losses at two corners that are barely noticeable – I think most people would still easily rate this clock a 9.5 out of 10 when it comes to condition.
