Antique 1890s Marble Adamantine Seth Thomas Parlor / Mantle Clock – VIDEO – RUNS. Movement – 8 Day – Time & Strike – Marked Seth Thomas – Gong sounds fantastic, a cleaning would do this movement wonders. Dial – Original -Marked Seth Thomas. Has the original bob and is tested, it runs great without issue. The clock has run for days straight without stopping, runs like a dream and the chime and gong works great! I winded it near fully and the clock ran flawlessly the entire time until needing a new wind. Hard to find in this condition! Glass on the front is in good shape, has the back cover as well, missing the key. Clock runs and works as it should. The half hour bell and hour gong works and sounds great. Comes with keys will most likely need repaired clock does chime on the hour when u turn the hands but the weight inside slows down and eventually stops could need repaired or off balance not sure….

SETH THOMAS CLOCK WITH THE ADAMANTINE FINISH WHICH WAS A LAMINATE OR PLASTIC THAT CAN TAKE A VERY HIGH SHINE. IT IS VERY DURABLE AND CLOCKS WITH THIS FINISH USUALLY LOOK AS GOOD AS THE DAY THEY WERE MADE ABOUT 100 YEARS AGO. IT HAS A GREAT LABEL ON THE BACK. IT WAS SERVICED AND AT LEAST ONE BUSHING PLACED. IT IS RUNNING AND STRIKING WELL. AS THE STORY GOES, ONLY SETH THOMAS KNEW THE FORMULA FOR THE ADAMANTINE FINISH. SO, HE INVENTED PLASTIC MANY YEARS PRIOR TO IT’S INTRODUCTION. I SEE A LOT OF NON SETH THOMAS CLOCKS ADVERTISED AS ADAMANTINE AND THAT IS FALSE ADVERTISING AND NOT TRUE.
