52 AMERICAN WALNUT – 1932. Offered today is this beautiful, one of a kind Seth Thomas Chime No. 52 produced in the year of 1932. This clock has man made character marks that show in the pictures but worth mentioning. Top of the clock has a sun bleach spot that can only be seen when on top but not from the sides. The dial has some wear that someone along the 90 plus years tried to rub spots out and the chapter ring shows fading from about the 6 to 10. The original shellac finish shows the wood grains beautifully of the case made of American Walnut wood. This clock has a strong, smooth running rebuilt 124 movement that has been keeping excellent time for the past few weeks. A picture of the mainsprings shows what other listings consider what working means. This is not right and all three springs where replaced with the proper sized Seth Thomas Spec mainsprings. All pivots polished and almost all holes needed to be bushed except the fly’s. All the best features are on this model like a beautiful original dial with raised Arabic bronze numbers which can be easily read from a distance. Fancy bronze serpentine shaped hour and minute hands. A nice broken arch molding along the front top half of the clock with nice extended molding at the sides of the 3 and 9. Nice burled inlaid panels below the dial. No scratches on the original convex beveled glass, while the golden original finish of the machined clasp bezel and the back door opens and closes properly as they should. The best sounding SETH THOMAS stamped Westminster chime rods are in this model. The original pendulum bob and the original Seth Thomas two-sided key come with the clock. Having the original bob, key, and instructions on the inside of the back door along with a partial model label on the bottom, makes this a very desirable and highly sought after mantel clock. This movement features a silent chime feature which silences the quarter-hour chimes only and not the hour strike like all Seth Thomas clocks with the 124 movement. Every aspect of this clock is fully functional. Disassemble the entire clock and movement myself completely. Install Seth Thomas parts on the movement if needed. Bush all worn pivot holes with high quality Bergeon bronze bushings as needed. Clean the entire movement ultrasonically. Clean the original dial careful not to alter its original condition. Clean bezel, parts and chime rods by hand. Clean the outside of the clock by hand with mild cleaners as well as the inside and apply a coat of wax by hand. Reassemble the clock, oil and lube in the proper places. Adjust chime and strike hammer sequence properly to assure smooth and even strikes at each quarter-hour and hour. Electronically regulate the beat and adjust the speed while the clock is level to ensure accuracy for many generations. Inspect and adjust every minor detail of the clock assuring full function and peak performance for many years to come.
