Inherited from my Father in 1996. This clock had been in my family for as long as I can remember. My father collected clocks and also could fix most any clock. Unfortunately I did not inherit this talent. If you know about these Fashion Clocks, you know the calendar mechanism is very, very touchy. This one was reworked about 5 years ago by a local clockmaker. The Calendar worked until I moved the clock to a different room where it never worked again. Seth Thomas beautiful antique mantel or shelf clock. Has an 8-day pendulum regulated movement with time-and-strike, it strikes the hour with a gong and the half hour with a bell. It winds up, it strikes every hour number of times it should -like 4 o’clock=4 times, 1 o’clock one time, it does not strike every half an hour as it should. Sale is an Antique Seth Thomas Mantel Clock with Carved Design. It measures approximately 15 inches wide by 23 inches tall. This clock is running and keeping time, but it is not known when it was last serviced. The case does have some wear. The pendulum has some discoloration. This is an antique 30 Day Weighted Driven Clock. The wood on clock is in good shape. Normal dings for its age. The glass on front good. The designs on bottom of glass. Black on glass with gold trim and flowers in the middle. There is a spot where paint wore off on one flower. At the bottom of glass is an opening where you can look in and see pendulum moving. Time Only w/ a Seconds Hand/Face. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself. Just a beautiful brass case on this clock. Would guess the clock dates to just before the WWII period. Has “K478″ impressed on the back of the case. Maritime Commission in 1936. The bezel is securely attached to the rest of the case. Flat glass in the bezel is intact.
