Adamantine is a celluloid veneer, glued to the wood case. Adamantine veneer was made in black and white, and in colored patterns such as wood grain, onyx and marble. The 1880 is the patent date for the adamantine finish.

Antique Late 1800’s / Early 1900’s Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantle Clock With Key – Brass Trim, 6 Pillars, And Lion Head Handles – Made In USA – Working: Clock Tics, Moves Arms, And Chimes (Not Sure How Well It’s Working) Size: 6 1/2 Inches Wide 16 Inches Long 11 Inches Tall Condition Is Preowned But Still In Fantastic Condition – Some Minor Wear To The Body – Small Chips Towards The Top Back – No Cracks In The Glass – A Bit Musty Smelling – Some Damage To The Clock Face – (See Photos)!
