Antique Seth Thomas Sonora Chime Clock No. 5 AdamantineNeeds Mainspring/Repair
5 Adamantine Mantel / Shelf / Cabinet Clock that needs repaired. This clock has two complete movements inside the case. The movement closest to the dial keeps the time and strike. The second movement runs the Westminster Chimes. The chime movement works but the other movement needs a mainspring repair as it will not stay wound. I don’t know if it’s just something loose, needs a clamp, or the extent of the repair but my expertise is not in fixing mainsprings. It’s an absolutely beautiful clock in otherwise good condition considering its age. There are a couple of dings on the top (see pictures) and the back cover has some minor damage where the fastener is located. The dial does show signs of wear, but that’s expected due to the age of the clock. Internet research shows the clock was made in the early 1900s. It chimes every 15 minutes. Due to the mainspring issue, I haven’t been able to test the hour strike. One of the pictures in the listing was taken to show the chime in action, even though it’s a still picture. The markings on the movement are Made in U. 14″ high x 11 1/2″ wide. It is a pretty heavy clock! Contact me with any questions. No Courier Service address.
