Beautiful Restored 1893 Seth Thomas #102 Black Adamantine Mantel Clock Running

For your consideration: The #102 model Black Adamantine mantel clock manufactured in 1893 by Seth Thomas. This clock has been cleaned and restored to operation and would be an attractive addition to any room. THE MOVEMENT The #89 series brass 8-day time and strike movement stamped with the Seth Thomas logo has been ultrasonic cleaned, re-lubricated, and is in running condition. This clock announces the hour with a count strike and the half hour with a single strike on a cathedral/coil gong, and I have to say, in my opinion, it’s the nicest, deep and rich gong tone I’ve ever heard or owned. The clock keeps good time, but if it were to be in continuous operation it would benefit from from the original springs being replaced. This movement has the speed adjustment arbor on the clock face. Double-ended winding key and original pendulum are included. THE DIAL FACE AND BEZEL The 4½ inch dial face and 6 inch bezel are a single integrated piece in this clock, and are original, receiving a clear coat seal after polishing to help prevent tarnishing. The bezel hinge has a small amount of play, but the bezel does close securely. The original flat glass has been replaced and upgraded to a new convex domed glass. THE CABINET AND TRIMMINGS The lustrous finish you see on this clock is the original Black Adamantine surface restored to it’s original high gloss. Once restored the only covering/coating added was a single light application of clear paste wax to help protect and preserve the natural beauty of the Adamantine surface. The decorative incised details have also all been carefully hand restored. The columns, lion’s head pulls and decorative cabinet feet were all refinished in a matching antique gold paint followed with a protective clear coating. Overall the cabinet is in beautiful condition with the only known damage being a group of small indentations in the center right side of the top and some minor crush of the front right corner which has been touched up (shown in photos 8 and 9). The underside of the cabinet bears the original painted manufacture date marking. The label on the back is a replica of the original found on this clock; all other trims and the cabinet are original to the clock. Overall dimensions of this clock: 11½ inches tall x 17 inches wide x 7 inches deep and weighs 8 lbs 4 oz..
