Manufactured by Seth Thomas of Thomaston, Connecticut in March of 1893, this is a very nice condition and fully operating example of their classic Black Mantel Clock series, produced in the late 1800’s with their newly adopted cabinet finish process using new materials called Marbeline and Adamantine (soon to both be collectively known as Adamantine), and later destined to become a focal trait sought by many collectors. ANTIQUE LATE 1800’S SETH THOMAS PARLOR, KITCHEN SHELF CLOCK 8 DAY HOUR STRIKE. 3 1/4 center to center of winding arbors. 3 from hand shaft to winding arbors. Dial has heavy wear loss. Case measures 10 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ x 16h. Bell on the hour only. 4 7/8 stamped on the brass front plate. Looks like an alarm feature could be added. You won’t be disappointed. Net weight is 6 lbs.
