Manufactured by Seth Thomas of Thomaston, Connecticut in March of 1893, this is a very nice condition and fully operating example of their classic Black Mantel Clock series, produced in the late 1800’s with their newly adopted cabinet finish process using new materials called Marbeline and Adamantine (soon to both be collectively known as Adamantine), and later destined to become a focal trait sought by many collectors. Antique Seth Thomas Beehive Wood Mantel Clock with Key & Pendulum WORKS. The glass face cover is missing. Some scratches on wooden case, damage/repair at the 12 o’clock position on the porcelain face (photo 14). Clock works, keeps time and chimes at the 12 & 6 o’clock positions. The mechanism is marked ST 48R (photo 11). Key & Pendulum included. Clock measures 11 1/2″ tall x 7 1/4″ x 4 1/2. Weighs 4 pounds 9 ounces (prior to packaging). Seth Thomas Adamantine 6 Columns Antique Mantel Clock, Beautiful Look – Lion Head handles on the sides. Over 100 year old clock, made of wood. It comes with a key and its pendulum. It winds up, the chime and hands works. It is running a little slow and the chimes are off a bit so it will need to be adjusted. One of the columns is a little lose but it stays in place.
