Seth Thomas Santa Fe Clock. A rare clock from the city series with a very ornate case. The back is stamped 5881J which I believe means it was made in October of 1885. Has a paper label inside that is partial intact. 22 tall, 13 wide, 5 deep. I wind it and it kept accurate time for several days. The top portion of the decorative carving was broken off at some point in this clocks life and was glued back in place. The front glass does not appear to be original. This clock keeps good time – within 5 minutes per week variation. The pendulum bob is probably not original but the benefit is that it is adjustable. Winding key is included. The case is in good shape with no major scuffs or scratches – just a few very minor dings which are hardly noticeable due to the extensive embellishments that take up all the attention. I doubt that the dial is original as it is in such great shape. You’ll notice that the hands are held onto the stem with a tapered wood dowel (probably toothpick). Measures approximately 14-3/4″ tall and 10″ wide at base. Made by Seth Thomas. Clock has been running for a couple days at listing time. Appears to be within a minute or so per day. Westminster chime sounds a little slow but rings every 15 mins as designed. Chime does need to be adjusted, as it chimes at 5-10 minutes after it is supposed to. Hours chime at top of hour usually. Will miss a chime sequence occasionally. Clock finish shows age but no visible damage or repairs noted. It’s old, and needs to be professionally serviced. Large old brass clock from Allis-Chalmers Milwaukee Works. It was made by the American Steam Gauge & Valve Company and has a Seth Thomas movement. The face is about 10 inches diameter and the bezel is 12 3/8 inches. It is in working order with some issues. The movement is a vintage replacement. The glass is also replaced. It has tarnish and wear and the back rim has a bend at the top mounting hole. The keys both work, but are replacements. The door often does not lock when it is shut. Eight day spring, strike. Case is walnut with painted dial. Case is cleaned and polished. As you can see, there are losses to the dial. As you can see in the photos, there are missing pieces to the top round piece. The movement has been cleaned, oiled and bushings replaced as needed.
