5 Adamantine Mantel / Shelf / Cabinet Clock that needs repaired. This clock has two complete movements inside the case. The movement closest to the dial keeps the time and strike. The second movement runs the Westminster Chimes. The chime movement works but the other movement needs a mainspring repair as it will not stay wound. I don’t know if it’s just something loose, needs a clamp, or the extent of the repair but my expertise is not in fixing mainsprings. Gorgeous Seth Thomas half column weight driven shelf clock. Beautiful rosewood case with minor nicks, chips and scratches (see pics), original reverse glass, original top glass, both iron weights, pendulum and 30 hour oiled works, with alarm mechanism. Newer looking face over zinc plate, no key included. About 25 tall by 15 wide and 4 deep. Counts the hour on a wire gong (removed for tuning in the pic). I don’t know anything about this. It runs, it chimes, it gongs and keeps time. It says 1880 on the label (See photo) The key is not original, trust me, I bought it at Walmart. There is a serial number and some signatures on it as well. A little wear on one side – see picture. Antique Seth Thomas Sonora No. 5 Chiming Shelf or Mantel Clock, Adamantine finish with 90D movement. Excellent condition, keeps good time, chimes properly, but needs work. Case in fantastic original condition, with no cracks, splits etc. Very minor wear with age. The original convex crystal is in perfect condition with good hinges and latch. The dial is showing some wear and discoloration. Needs a few repairs/adjustments. The hourly strike mechanism is not working. The spring is broken or detached. Measures approximately 14-3/4″ tall and 10″ wide at base. Made by Seth Thomas. Clock has been running for a few days at listing time. Appears to be within a couple minute or so per day. Westminster chime sounds a little slow but rings every 15 mins as designed. Chime does need to be adjusted, as it chimes at 5-10 minutes after it is supposed to. Hours chime at top of hour usually. Will miss a chime sequence occasionally. Clock finish shows age but no visible damage or repairs noted. It’s old, and needs to be professionally serviced.
