Seth Thomas Starburst/Sunburst Teak Clock 1960s/70s. Stunning 26 inch (in diameter) retro clock Seth Thomas clock, made in Scotland. Overall in good condition and works well. Clock face (7 inches in diameter) and numerals in good condition (but would benefit from a polish). Metal parts have some tarnish and 3 of the 4 clips that hold the clock face in place have broken (see photos). The most recent broke when I removed the clock from my mum’s wall where it has hung for decades. I have tried sticking it back on (so it will come with the clock) but I don’t know where the other broken pieces went. Should be […]

This super nice clock is in very good strong running condition as shown with no breaks or cracks. It has the highly desirable Mayland Chime Rods. Their chime is beautiful, rich and lyrical! It chimes a partial chime on the quarter hour and chimes the full chime and the correct number of dongs on the hour. Glass face has good hinges and latches closed securely. The clock face has some minor age related finish wear as shown. It comes with key and pendulum shown. It had been sitting for many years in storage. I ran it a couple hours before the chime started working correctly, but once it started, it […]

Offered is a late 19th c. The clock was originally nickle-plated, but typical of one of these century-old clocks, the nickle had worn off considerably and with just a quick cleaning on a buffing wheel, the underlying solid brass case and bell polished up to a beautiful luster. Now, for those who bemoan the removing of “patina”, let me remind you that brass on ships was either kept polished or painted and never allowed to look “grungy”! At the same time, I adjusted the two “hammers” to produce a nice resonating ring with no “double-strike”. There were no jeweler markings to indicate any work done in the past, so I […]
