Antique Seth Thomas Westminster Sonora Chime Mantle Clock
Circa 1930’s Seth Thomas Clock Co, Thomaston CT, 8 day Westminster Sonora Chime Clock. The case has a nice refinish to the mahogany veneer and features inlaid marquetry in the front panel. There are two movements. The inner one is an 8 day time and hour strike movement which activates the second Westminster Chime movement to ring out that musical chime on the 15 minute marks. The first quarter hour chimes out four notes. The length of the song increases every 15 minutes. At the hour, it chimes the full song followed by the hammer counting out the hours on one of the rods. The chime rods are tuned and sound lovely. There is an on/off lever that can be controlled on the side of the clock. The movements look clean. I ran this clock all last summer and set it aside in a closet. It is ticking and chiming for the past day, but is untested further than that. The dial is silver plated with enamel numbers. It is mounted in a brass bezel with a convex, beveled glass. The clock comes with a pendulum and key. They are old, but I do not know if they are original. I had it serviced several years ago and only use it from time to time. Please see the detailed photos as they are also part of the description. I described this clock to the best of my knowledge.
