Amazing Antique Seth Thomas Butternut Adamantine Clock 1894
Amazing Antique Seth Thomas Butternut Adamantine Clock 1894. This is an awesome looking clock made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. USA and dated 1894. This is the actual date of manufacture stamped on the bottom board, and not a patent date. As seen in the pictures, this is a remarkable clock in very good condition. It features the original 1894 Seth Thomas movement, which has been cleaned and is in good running condition, keeping time and striking properly, counting the hour, i. 1 gong at 1:00, 2 gongs at 2:00, etc. And announcing the half hour with a single gong. It is a quality movement that, if properly maintained, should last many lifetimes. The solid brass bezel and dial assembly is in very nice condition. These solid brass dials are great because they never wear out. This clock also features nearly one of a kind solid brass columns that were probably only made for one or two years. The case is also in good condition, boasting the scarce to find all marbleized look Adamantine finish. This is a 19th century patented laminate finish, which is in beautiful shape for its age. You may notice a little shrinkage at the corners and edges, and some cracking here and there, with minor dings, dents and scuffs, which is the nature of the Adamantine finish. It is a thin laminate over soft wood and so shrinks, cracks and dents fairly easily with just normal use over time. However, although this clock is obviously aged, being a hundred and twenty-five years old, the Adamantine is in pretty remarkable condition. The case measurements are 16 ¾” wide x 11 ¼” high x 6 ¾ deep. This future family heirloom clock comes complete with a key and the original pendulum and is ready to place up on the mantle and enjoy. This helps ensure that the new owner will have a satisfying experience. Be very sure to save all packaging material if there is a problem. All sales are final (with the exception noted below). It is nearly impossible to find one in “mint” condition. If a clock has damage from misuse, it will be noted. If a clock is running properly when it arrives, that is about the best we can do. All sales for this type of item are final. We try to describe everything exactly as it is and if we do something wrong, we will make it right.
