Vintage 1950’s SETH THOMAS school house clock. Large at 15 total diameter. CHROME METAL BODY with HIGH DOME glass front. These are usually GE etc. How often do you see a Seth Thomas school house clock in chrome? Condition: (please read) No cracks or chips in glass. No dings in metal. All three hands are there and not loose. The hands can be adjusted using the bottom adjuster. The hook on the back for hanging is still nice and strong. This clock is an estate find and while the key is present I have not wound the clock as I’ve read that they can be wound too tight. The key, Pendulum Rod, and Bob are present. There are four antique screws present on back panel that I don’t believe are original (see photos for details). The original label is still affixed to the back. Sorry for the crummy pics, I could barely move the thing. I was told this came out of a bank in Freehold, NJ. Even though its missing the crown, its still 70 tall as it stands. Other than the crown, it looks pretty complete, but I cant be sure because I never had anything like this. No weight looks to be present. The finish is alligatored, and the paint is peeling on the dial. I have no way of knowing whether it works. I do have two keys, one for winding and one for the door. Seth Thomas Prospect No. Fully and properly overhauled, serviced and tested No. 89 Seth Thomas Time and Strike movement. The movement appears to be original to the case. Case finish is original with some alligatoring which attests to the clocks true age. Nice contrasting light wood marquetery against brown mahogany finish. It has a date stamp on the bottom of the case which indicates this example was manufactured in January of 1917. Pendulum Bob and winding keys are appropriate replacements. This item for sale is a antique Seth Thomas Carriage Clock standing 11 tall. It still works, may need some light adjustments. The clock is not perfect, has some wear on finish, I believe it is brass frame, a couple of the glass panels have some damage in corners. I saw damage on the back panel and one side but there may be minor defects not mentioned. So please check all photos carefully. The clock is in good shape overall.
