Antique/Vintage Seth Thomas Mantle Clock. Nice wood cabinet with four pillars & a lion’s head on each side. In very nice looking condition. Clock may have been refinished. Clock will run for about a minute with pendulum attached but with no pendulum it will run a little longer. I’m not sure if pendulum is original to clock or not. There is No Key. Also along with the pendulum is a long hooked wire that hooked to pendulum and stuck into a tiny hole in the inside of case which I believe was used to hold pendulum from moving during being moved or storage. Seth Thomas Prospect No. Fully and properly overhauled, serviced and tested No. 89 Seth Thomas Time and Strike movement. The movement appears to be original to the case. Case finish is original with some alligatoring which attests to the clocks true age. Nice contrasting light wood marquetery against brown mahogany finish. It has a date stamp on the bottom of the case which indicates this example was manufactured in January of 1917. Pendulum Bob and winding keys are appropriate replacements. Used on US Navy ships during and after World War 2. This clock is in very good condition and running strong keeping excellent time. There are a few scratches on the case and crystal. The dial is dated 1943 and the movement is dated January 1944. The metal shock mount is missing, but the hinged back plate is in very good condition. The clock measures 8 3/8″ at the widest point across the back, the dial is 5 1/2″ dial, and the case is 4 deep. Please look at the pictures, they provide the best description. This is a beautiful vintage Seth Thomas Westminster Chime 8-Day Mantel/Shelf Clock. It is Tambour Shape clock. I think it is Model 59. It has a silver tone dial. The face is marked “Made by Seth Thomas in USA”. On the back of the clock works is’Made in USA” “ST” mark and “119A. There is silent/chime lever on the back. I WAS JUST TOLD THAT THIS CLOCK IS A REPRODUCTION FROM THE LATE 70’S OR EARLY 80’S. SO TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION. THIS IS STILL A BEAUTIFUL CLOCK, NO MATTER WHAT THE YEAR. Based on the label and some research I believe this clock is 1905 or 1906. Measures 15″ x 6″ x 11 and weighs 8 pounds. Original, full label on the back. The clock does’tick tock’.
