Vintage Seth Thomas Helmsman 24 Hour Clock And Weather Barometer. You are looking at the Vintage Seth Thomas Helmsman 24-Hour Clock And Weather Barometer. The Seth Thomas Clock Company was founded by Seth Thomas and began producing clocks in 1813. Seth Thomas added his name to the clock’s dial, usually centered just above the number 6 on the dial. Clocks built through 1879 had no name on the dial, but during the years 1881 to 1888; 1913 through 1929; and 1929 forward, his name often appeared on the dial. The Seth Thomas company started making weather barometers to match the clocks. On the face of the barometer, you will see many words such as Rain, Change, and Fair. The brand name Seth Thomas should always be found as also the words Weather Barometer. On the bottom of the base, you will see a small piece of paper that has the CAT number-1606, the name Helmsman Base, Model: E537-007, and the name Seth Thomas. We checked this clock out with the key and it is a working clock. This item does come with a key. You will see two places where you need to wind the clock. One is for the clock itself and the other one is for the chime. This is perfect for anyone who is a collector of Seth Thomas clocks. ALTHOUGH CLOCK DOES TICK. BUT RUNS FEW HOURS FAST PER DAY. BUT HOUR HAND DOEST NOT MOVE, BECAUSE LOOSE. Clock comes with a Howard Miller Clock CO Zeeland Michigan Mechanism 132-071. There are two distinct springs/winding ports for the clock. The Clock has been on since 5;13/24 at 1:00PM. It is running thus far 5 days. It is running about 5 hours fast. It has a FAST / SLOW setting. It is hard for me to see, so I cannot set it. It Chimes or hits the gong on the Half and on the Hour. The chime lever on the edge of the face of the clock is set to strike. But I noticed I have to set it on silent for clock to work. Another lever adjusts the fast or slow movement. The clock is 5.25″ wide and 3″ deep. There is some tarnish on the sides and light spots on surface, glass is clear with no scratches (see pictures). Clock comes with both keys. I could not read the model number. Including two solid wooden stands. The small one is to place in one side so piece will not move and fall from display stand. The barometer seems to work. Has same brass surface condition as clock, glass is also in good condition (see pictures). Model number is: E537-010. I CLEANED AND OILED BOTH MECHANISM. THE CLOCK WAS CLEANED IN ULTRASOIUND MACHINE.
