This is a stunning original antique Seth Thomas mantle or kitchen (shelf) clock featuring large scroll cut gingerbread crest and side pieces decorated with cast brass scrolls, and glass door with gold floral vase and swag patterns stenciled on the inside. The clock comes complete with alarm, pendulum, and key. It was tested and is working and keeping time. It chimes on the hour and half hour. The paper clock dial is a replacement and the clock might have been refinished at some point but is in excellent condition overall. There are a few pieces of veneer missing on the back side of the crest but no other visible damage anywhere and it is clean and is otherwise pristine.

Green Adamantine faux marble exterior. Measurements approx: length 16.5″, height 11″, width 6.5. Weight 9 lbs 4 oz. Numbered at the bottom 8981. Not tested – keys are missing (any same-type-clock keys will work). Eing a used item, there are signs of prior use on it like a few body abrasions, a little fading, staining and general wear. It features an 8-day 89C movement with a BIM BAM chime sequence and a brown Adamantine finish. The clock has a wooden frame and is in good working condition. I FOUND THIS AT AN ESTATE SALE, PUT A FEW DROPS OF OIL ON IT, FREED THE MAIN SPRING (IT HAD HUNG UP ON THE FRAME WHEN WOUND) AND IT STARTED AND RUNS GREAT, KEEPING GOOD TIME. THE DIAL WAS REPLACED AT SOME POINT, I’M SURE AS IT DOESN’T HAVE THE SETH THOMAS NAME AND MADE IN USA PRINTED ON IT, BUT IT’S WHITER THAN WHAT THE ORIGINAL WOULD BE AT THIS POINT, SO IT’S A NICE TOUCH. I PRINTED A NEW INSTRUCTIONS AND GLUED IT TO THE BACK PANEL. IT HAS AN ANSONIA KEY, DON’T THINK THAT’S ORIGINAL EITHER, BUT OLDER ANYWAY. ONE OF THE BEST CLOCKS I’VE FOUND IN SUCH A GREAT CONDITION, EVER! THE ADAMANTINE HAS A COUPLE OF SMALL CHIPS IN THE TOP/BACK AND A SMALL HOLE IN THE RIGHT SIDE. HOW DOES ONE PUT A HOLE IN IT I DO NOT KNOW! CLEAN AND THE BIM BAM BELL/GONG WORK JUST FINE! KEEPING VERY GOOD TIME AFTER ONE DAY.

For sale is a Seth Thomas “Adamantine” clock with black and green marbleized finish (Adamantine is Seth Thomas’ patented celluloid finish that was made in many colors to imitate wood and marble). It strikes the hours on two brass bells, and strikes the half hour on the higher pitched bell. The clock movement has been cleaned, oiled and 2 new mainsprings were installed. The clock case is in “as-found” excellent condition. The movement is marked 89T and is called a “ding-dong” because it sounds like a door bell. All reasonable offers accepted.
