This clock belonged to my husband’s grandmother and has remained in the family ever since. We are now offering it to someone who will appreciate its history, craftsmanship and wonderful mechanical character. The clock features a Seth Thomas mechanical 8-day time-and-strike movement, believed to be from the No. It is key wound and includes its pendulum and a replacement winding key. Seth Thomas mechanical movement. 8-day key-wind operation. Hour and half-hour strike. Coiled gong. Original pendulum. Replacement winding key. Convex glass. Brass bezel. Fast/Slow regulator. Beautiful reddish-brown wood-grain / Adamantine-style case finish. Made in USA. The clock is currently running and striking. Videos are included with the listing to demonstrate its operation and sound. As with any antique mechanical clock, adjustment may be necessary after the clock is moved. No representation is being made that it has recently been professionally serviced, and long-term accuracy or future servicing requirements cannot be guaranteed. Offered for sale is a beautifully restored antique Seth Thomas “Prospect #00″ model mantel clock, dating to approximately 1913. A fine representation of American clockmaking at the turn of the century, this clock has been fully and properly restored inside and out, making it both a collectible piece and a dependable timekeeper ready for display and use. Restoration & Mechanical Condition. This clock has been restored inside and out. The #89C movement has been completely disassembled, with all parts cleaned ultrasonically, inspected, and reassembled to proper working condition. The clock strikes once the half hour on a pleasant brass cup bell and the correct number of hours on the hour on a cathedral gong. The mainsprings that power the clock have been removed from their arbors, thoroughly cleaned, and properly greased to ensure smooth and reliable operation. Several new bushings were installed in the movement where needed to correct wear and restore proper tolerances before reassembly. All pivots were polished on the lathe to reduce friction and promote long-term performance. The clock has been carefully tested and is running strong and keeping good time, ready for dependable use. Cabinet & Cosmetic Condition. The cabinet has been gently and properly restored, preserving the original character of the clock while presenting beautifully. The finish has been carefully cleaned and stabilized, bringing out the depth and warmth of the wood grain. Any necessary attention to the case structure and veneer has been addressed to ensure a clean and solid presentation. The original dial is clean and well-preserved, with excellent clarity and readability. The bezel has been highly polished by hand, and the glass is clear, intact, and free of cracks. Overall, the clock displays exceptionally well, with a rich appearance that complements its age and craftsmanship. Mechanical time and strike movement. Requires weekly winding on both arbors. Includes correct winding key. This is an antique clock and may show minor signs of age consistent with its history. Authentic 1939 Seth Thomas Mark I U. Navy deck clock, number N 1755, housed in its substantial original heavy watertight porthole-style case. A previous owner removed the original mechanical movement and converted the clock to a modern battery-operated quartz movement for convenient everyday use. The quartz mechanism uses one AA battery. The original mechanical movement and related parts shown in the photographs are included with the clock. Their completeness, operating condition, and suitability for restoration are unknown, so they are included as-is. The original black dial is marked Mark I – Deck Clock – U. Navy, ” dated 1939, and signed “Made by Seth Thomas in U. Because of the quartz conversion, the clock is no longer mechanically original, and the original subsidiary seconds display does not operate in its original manner. The clock retains its exceptionally heavy metal shipboard case with hinged front bezel, glass, mounting flange, rear housing, and aged gasket material. The case was designed for secure bulkhead mounting and has considerable weight. Vintage condition with scratches, scuffs, spotting, discoloration, finish wear, paint or residue, gasket deterioration, dust, and other signs of age, previous installation, and modification.
