Sound Opening on Bottom. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself. A nice looking patinaed brass lacquer look case on this clock. Would guess the clock dates to just before the WWII period. Has no markings on the back of the case. An uncommon feature with this clock is the sound venting on the bottom of the case. An uncommon, but ingenious feature to allow the strike of the clock to be heard over a larger area. The bezel (door) is attached to the rest of the case. Flat glass in the bezel is intact. Just some minor surface scratching to the glass, no cracks or blistering. The clock has been running since we acquired it. Think this is a 3 day movement, not an 8 day. The springs feel sound on the movement when keyed. The clock’s hands all move as they should including the seconds hand. The clock strikes as expected but the strike hammer does need adjusting, as rings dully when goes off. The clock will come with a wind key. The clock face shows some discoloration, wear to finish, and fading from age and is intact. The clock has both its’ minute and hour hands as well as the seconds hand. Brass case is 7″ across, by 3-7/8″ tall. The clock face is 5 across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Fantastic station dial clock American made public clock incredible quality very popular and sought after clock. Large dial with Roman numerals the dial very clean and original to the clock. Antique Seth Thomas Crystal Regulator Clock. Striking When Manually Set, Not Running. Beautiful Gold Gilt Case. Would make a great gift for a special occasion or keep for yourself! What looks to be an orange/red color on the back of the movement and gong is not really there. Just a reflection off of what the photographer was wearing that day. This style clock does not come to the market very often. Made by Seth Thomas in the early 1900s. This is the Empire No. This clock probably dates to the early 1900s. The top and bottom pieces may have been re-gilded at some juncture. The corners of the actual case appear to have the original finish. They show some finish loss. The front and rear bezels are on hinges and attached to the clock case. Both doors are still secured well. The side glass pieces are still intact and beveled. There is no cracking or blistering of any of the beveled glass pieces. The gold colored lacquer finish on the clock shows some minor loss in places. Most notably on the top of the clock case. Nice porcelain face with an antique white background with black numbering. A hairline in the face at the 10 o’clock mark. The grommets are both in place. Some minor chipping around the right wind hole. The pendulum has two glass vials that hold lead ingots. One of the glass vials is broken, see pic. This is the model 48N movement as noted on the back plate. The clock will strike when the hands are advanced manually, but just keeps striking. The clock does not have a beat when set up the pendulum. Did oil the back pinions, but does not run. The movement is an 8 day movement. The strike and wind springs are wound tightly. He clock will come with a newer wind key. This is a time and gong wire strike clock. The clock stands 14-3/8″ tall, by 8″ across, by 7 wide. The clock face is 3.25″/3.75″ across. Antique Seth Thomas 8 Day “Beehive” Style Striking Mantle Clock, no key. It is about 11 5/8″h x 7 1/4″l (at base) and 5 1/2d (includes crystal). It DOES NOT come with pendulum and key, will need to acquire one. The pendulum swings freely. The wood has signs of wear and tear, utilize pictures to determine condition. All our items are in pre-owned condition and will have signs of wear/age. UNTESTED, NO KEY, WILL NEED SOME ADJUSTMENTS AND POSSIBLE MINOR REPAIR.
