This rare Seth Thomas & Sons “Orio” figural mantel clock dates to the late 1870s-1880s and features a beautifully sculpted classical seated figure signed D. The clock retains its original finish, showing only expected age-related wear, and houses the correct Thomaston, CT Seth Thomas & Sons movement, which is in working condition. The ornate case includes deep Victorian engraving, a round Roman-numeral dial marked Seth Thomas Sons & Co. , and a richly detailed bronze-tone sculpture. The figure is securely attached overall, with only slight movement at one support point when touched – typical for clocks of this age. This is a premium New York-division Seth Thomas clock, produced during the company’s highest-quality era. These Orio-designed figural clocks are highly collectible and increasingly hard to find with original finish and a functioning movement. A striking display piece and a fine example of 19th-century American horology paired with European sculptural artistry. Clock is in working condition with its original Seth Thomas & Sons movement. The finish appears original and shows expected age-related wear, including some rubbed areas. The figural sculpture is secure overall, though has slight movement when touched due to loose secure points. This is a terrific, Vintage Seth Thomas and Sons Bronze finish Mantel Clock!! It stands 16 1/2in. T x 14 in. I do not have a key, but the Clock does work. The condition may be judged by the pictures, and you can message me with any concerns.

The wood base seems to have been repaired but the clock is in EXCELLENT CONDITION and untouched- works well. Comes with it;s own key. Surrounded with glass globe. On the verso it is numbered #6352. Wood bottom navy blue stem rests on a Black wood base. As mentioned before the bottom stem part seems to have repaired. When wound with the key it works (Please do not over wind). Glass globe makes this desk-mantle clock is very attractive piece. This is a RARER piece-Please take care. MEASURES: With out globe- 7 1/2″ x 4 1/2″. With Globe- 12″ x 7″.
