Antique Seth Thomas 8 Day Inlay Beehive Style Clock Serviced & Running. This nice looking clock was made by the Seth Thomas Clock Company in Thomaston, Conn. This model features an earlier signed Seth Thomas # 89 solid plate 8 day movement that has been serviced and is in good running and gonging order. It counts out each hour, i. 1 gong at 1:00, 2 gongs at 2:00, etc. On a high quality flat coil gong that has a great resonating sound, and announces each half hour with a single toll. The case is classic in style and craftsmanship. It measures 13″ tall x 8 3/4″ wide x 5 deep and is still in the original finish and has aged beautifully and is in great condition. Notice the classic real inlay under the dial and around the edges and sides. The original painted 4 3/4 dial and solid brass bezel assembly is also in great condition. This clock comes complete with the key and pendulum. This helps ensure that the new owner will have a satisfying experience. Be very sure to save all packaging material if there is a problem. All sales are final, so please be sure that you will be happy by reviewing the pictures and descriptions that we provide. We honestly want you to be happy. It is nearly impossible to find one in “mint” condition. If a clock has damage from misuse, it will be noted. Sound Opening on Bottom. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself. A nice looking patinaed brass lacquer look case on this clock. Would guess the clock dates to just before the WWII period. Has no markings on the back of the case. An uncommon feature with this clock is the sound venting on the bottom of the case. An uncommon, but ingenious feature to allow the strike of the clock to be heard over a larger area. The bezel (door) is attached to the rest of the case. Flat glass in the bezel is intact. Just some minor surface scratching to the glass, no cracks or blistering. The clock has been running since we acquired it. Think this is a 3 day movement, not an 8 day. The springs feel sound on the movement when keyed. The clock’s hands all move as they should including the seconds hand. The clock strikes as expected but the strike hammer does need adjusting, as rings dully when goes off. The clock will come with a wind key. The clock face shows some discoloration, wear to finish, and fading from age and is intact. The clock has both its’ minute and hour hands as well as the seconds hand. Brass case is 7″ across, by 3-7/8″ tall. The clock face is 5 across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. Notice the string inlay all around the edges and the beautiful inlay decorations above and below the dial. There are a couple minor scratches on top. The original porcelain enamel dial and solid brass bezel with beveled edge glass assembly is in good condition. There is a little roughage around the fast/slow arbor and a small flake at the edge near the 8. The case is a little larger than normal measuring 15 high x 9½ wide x 6½ deep. This was actually the practice of the Seth Thomas Clock Co. We will include easy to re-install instructions, which basically requires putting the gong stand back in its hole and fastening the nut from underneath. This clock comes complete with the pendulum and a key that fits. This helps ensure that the new owner will have a satisfying experience. Very nice antique Seth Thomas mantel clock. I cleaned and polished the case and test ran the clock before listing. I have been collecting clocks most of my life and look to pass these off to a good home. Nice black adamantine finish, high polished finish. Eight-day time and strike with Cathedral gong. Comes with key and bob. Clock measures 16 x 7 x 11. All antiques will have normal wear due to age but maintain a very beautiful time piece.
