Seth Thomas Violin Clock (1970s Licensed Limited Reproduction of the 1885 Original Issue). I acquired this piece from the original owner who is now deceased. This beautiful recreation of the original 1885 issue is made of carved walnut in the shape of a violin (or viola) featuring decorative scroll work, applied trim, and a reverse-painted gilt glass tablet over the lower body. Dimensions: Height 32″, Width 13.5″, Depth 6. Part of original paper label on the back “Westminster”. Weight: 8 lbs 13 oz. Operation/Function/Movement: This clock was not re-produced with an operators manual but it clock functions identically to a standard American Antique 8-Day Spring-Driven Pendulum Clock. It does include the original winding key. The left hole is to adjust the chime. The right hole is to wind the clock. To start the clock, you need to manually gently push the pendulum to initiate the swinging motion. There are two photos of the movements behind the dial. I had to remove the pendulum to get close enough to take those photos. The cabinet back does not open for you to be able to see the movements from the back. Condition: The cabinet, decorations, door, and inner works are all in excellent and fully functional condition. (See all photos which includes a video of the clock in operation). There is no damage to the body of the clock. It was recently polished using beeswax. I recommend Howard Feed N Wax. This clock was last authenticated and inspected in 2015 by Arizona Certified Appraisal Group. The pendulum will be in a archival and bubble bag. It is very easy to reattach the pendulum. The winding key will be with the pendulum.

Antique Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantle Clock. When hands are manually turned it will chime the hour. The bell also works on it. It appears is has sat for a very long time causing the spring to get stuck and will need to be serviced. We believe it has been overwound. It comes with a brass key. See pictures for condition and details.

NICE VINTAGE SETH THOMAS 4 PILLAR KEY WIND ADAMANTINE MANTLE CLOCK WITH A BLACK EBONIZED WOODEN CASE WITH A VENEER DEVELOPED BY CELLULOID MANUFACTURING CO – PATENTED 1880. DECORATIVE COLUMNS, BRASS ACCENTS WITH LION HEAD HANDLES. 8 DAY TIME AND STRIKE MOVEMENTS. IT IS MARKED “89C” ON THE CLOCK MECHANISM ON THE BACK AS PICTURED, AS WELL AS MADE IN U. NO KEY FOR THIS CLOCK, BUT IT COMES WITH THE PENDULUM. CLOCK RUNS FOR A FEW MINUTES, THEN STOPS. THE HANDS MOVE WHEN IT’S RUNNING. DEFINATELY NEEDS A GOOD CLEANING AND SERVICING AS I HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG IT HAS SAT. IT IS NOT “OVERWOUND” AS ALOT OF THEM ARE. IT “DONGS” ON THE HOUR AND IS ACCURATE FOR THE HOUR AND DONG. NO GLASS ON THE FRONT. THE INSIDE OF THE CLOCK DOES HAVE A BIT OF A “MUSTY” SMELL. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF WATER DAMAGE, CASE OF THE CLOCK IS LOVELY, PROBABLY IN A BASEMENT OR MAYBE AN OLD BARN OR GARAGE FOR A LONG TIME. IT CLEANED UP NICE, POLISHED THE CASE A BIT. IT COULD USE SOME MORE CLEANING. CLOCK OVERALL I THINK IS NICE, IT HAS A NICE “TIGER” DESIGN ON THE TOP AS PICTURED. CLOCK SIZE IS 16 INCHES ACROSS THE FRONT FOOT TO FOOT, 6 3/4 INCHES WIDE BACK FOOT TO FRONT FOOT AND IS 10 3/4 INCHES TALL. PLEASE VIEW ALL OF THE PHOTO’S AND JUDGE FOR YOURSELF.
