1939 Seth Thomas US Navy Mark I Deck Clock Quartz Porthole + Orig Movement
Authentic 1939 Seth Thomas Mark I U. Navy deck clock, number N 1755, housed in its substantial original heavy watertight porthole-style case. A previous owner removed the original mechanical movement and converted the clock to a modern battery-operated quartz movement for convenient everyday use. The quartz mechanism uses one AA battery. The original mechanical movement and related parts shown in the photographs are included with the clock. Their completeness, operating condition, and suitability for restoration are unknown, so they are included as-is. The original black dial is marked Mark I – Deck Clock – U. Navy, ” dated 1939, and signed “Made by Seth Thomas in U. Because of the quartz conversion, the clock is no longer mechanically original, and the original subsidiary seconds display does not operate in its original manner. The clock retains its exceptionally heavy metal shipboard case with hinged front bezel, glass, mounting flange, rear housing, and aged gasket material. The case was designed for secure bulkhead mounting and has considerable weight. Vintage condition with scratches, scuffs, spotting, discoloration, finish wear, paint or residue, gasket deterioration, dust, and other signs of age, previous installation, and modification. Please examine all photographs carefully for the dial, hands, case, quartz conversion, included original parts, and overall condition.

For your consideration is this fine quartz Seth Thomas “Winchester Ave Maria” Pendulum wall clock. It features a triple chime, mahogany wood housing, with polished bronze and wood pendulum. The clock uses two “C” batteries (included) and can be set to Ava Maria at the hour, then counts the hour. A variety of settings, Westminster at the hour and counts the hour, or Westminster every quarter hour and then counts the hour, and just Bim-bam counting the hour. There is also a setting for nighttime mute, 24 hours, or off. It can be set for High or low volume and the Sound is very soft and rhythmical, especially Ava Maria. The Mahogany stained wood cabinet, décor trimmed glass, pendulum, and face are in excellent condition with no imperfections, nicks or discolorations. It is in like new condition and has been always maintained in an excellent manor. Please see the photos as they are an important part of this description. The Seth Thomas clock measures 25 inches tall by 12 inches wide and 6 inches deep. My father collected Pendulum Wall Clocks and proudly displayed and maintained them. Now it is time to downsize and list his various collections.
