Seth Thomas Time Only Movement, their movement number 97E, which as near as I can learn was used only in Office #4 and #5 Clocks circa 1907 (a sketch of the clock is included). I have completely restored this movement to excellent working condition with complete cleaning and polishing, the installation of 12 bushings to repair worn pivot holes, installation of a new mainspring and a new pendulum suspension rod/spring. I have run this movement using a brass pendulum bob typical of the era, having a diameter of 2 3/16 inches, and it is included with the movement. The winding arbor is located to the left and below the hand shaft, 1 3/8 inches left and 3/4 inch below, the only ST movement with this arrangement as far as I can learn. The hand shaft extends out from the top plate by 1 inch. The overall depth of the movement from the mounting surface to the end of the hand shaft is 2 13/16 inches. The pendulum suspension spring is 6 inches long and the distance from the hand shaft to the bottom of the attached pendulum bob is 9 inches. The plates of the movement are approximately 2 3/8 by 4 1/8 inches in size. Please ask me any questions you may have about this movement. Please let me know if you are uncertain how to re-install it for use and I will help you out. I always adjust movements to run in beat when they are level, however I have learned that not all movements are installed in their cases such that it is level when the case level. If you need assistance setting the beat of this movement please contact me. If you are looking for a specific Seth Thomas movement and this one is not it, please let me know as I may have what you are looking for in my inventory. I have been repairing mechanical clock movements for over 40 years and guarantee my work. Thank you for looking!

I had to replace 2 movement screws that weren’t gripping, I replaced one of the screws that holds the bezel to the back of the case and at least one more needs replacing. Shows other general wear and use. Please view all 24 photos for measurements and condition.

Release the weight by removing the back panel and sliding out the piece above the weight. Place the clock firmly in the desired position and wind it up. Remove the fastening from the time hand and start the clock running. Then remove the cord that connects the month roll and the fastening from the calendar hand. Move the left-hand lever up and down until the calendar shows the correct day of the week. Then move the right-hand lever in the same way until the correct month appears, and continue until the correct day of the month is indicated by the hand. At this point, the clock shows 5 o’clock in the morning. Keep the clock wound; if it runs down and the calendar falls behind a day or two, simply turn the minute hand until the calendar shows the correct date again. This clock features a perpetual calendar – when set up correctly, it will accurately display the month and day, including February 29th in leap years. Manufactured by Seth Thomas Clock Co. I believe this is model number 6 its just under 33 inches tall, overall seems pretty good for what looks to be a survivor unrestored and untouched, we believe with some tic it will run, probably needs cleaned and serviced I had it running for 20 30 seconds at a time, I should note, I have two keys that came with but no pendulum, I had one laying around that we tried that is pretty close, the new owner could have that.
